Sheila Tighe has line produced and/or executive produced hundreds of commercial spots around the world for such major brands as Coke, Pepsi, NASCAR, Gillette, Home Depot, McDonalds, IBM, Heineken and many more.
Born in Staten Island, NY, Tighe graduated from Manhattan College with a BS Degree in Communications. During her four years of college, she was an All American Basketball Player, was twice nominated for the “Wade” Trophy (comparable to the “Heisman”), and was even invited to try out for the Olympics in women’s basketball.
Relocating to the West Coast in the late 1980s, Tighe became a Director’s Assistant and later a producer with Tom Tatum Communications. As such, she worked for a time on the production of numerous sports-related cable TV programs.
Meeting acclaimed commercial director Joe Pytka (through a friend on her women’s basketball team), Tighe worked in a variety of production roles for Pytka and his company for more than a decade. During this time, she was involved in the production of numerous Superbowl spots, as well as spots starring Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretsky, Charles Barkley, Madonna, and for such major advertisers as Pepsi and Diet Pepsi, Nike, Lays, IBM, Hallmark, McDonalds, Lexus, and many others.
Of her work with Pytka, Tighe says, “These were the most informative production years imaginable. Working with Joe Pytka was like ‘boot camp’ for me. Today, no matter how difficult or intricate a project may be, I feel that my years with Joe ensured that I would always be prepared…for anything!”
Tighe later worked as both a line producer and executive producer with Flying Tiger Films, working closely with director Bob Gordon. In this role, she travelled the world, producing spots globally in such locales as Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Malta, Italy and elsewhere.
Freelancing after her years with Flying Tiger, Tighe next became an EP with Form for six years. During this era, she produced spots for Coke and Diet Coke, Pizza Hut, Gillette, Home Depot, NASCAR, and countless more.
Today, Tighe lives in the Larchmont Village area of Los Angeles.
